Jacquie Sullivan

Inspired by nature, Jacquie Sullivan creates hand-printed linocut, woodcut and letterpress prints, greeting cards and block-printed textiles you won't be able to resist.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jacquie grew up in Uxbridge and studied Fine Art at the University of Windsor and the University of Guelph. She has always been an observer, noticing things that others tend to miss, but studying and making art have refined how she sees the world and have encouraged deep reflection about her experience of living in it.

Since 2020, Jacquie has maintained an art practice focused on relief printmaking, working out of her home studio in Whitby to create hand-printed linocut, woodcut and letterpress prints. She makes works on paper, greeting cards and block-printed textiles inspired by moments in nature, travel memories and the power of words.

Through both her work and the printmaking workshops she teaches, she aims to help others slow down, reconnect with themselves and to appreciate the world around them more fully.

Jacquie Sullivan, Prints

Jacquie is drawn to the physicality of printmaking, which challenges and stimulates her with constant problem-solving and learning.

Working in reverse, she applies a high level of intentionality and mindfulness to carve away the wood and linoleum that will not be printed and to set by hand the wood & metal type for the personally meaningful texts she chooses to print. This careful, handmade process requires a strong attention to detail, and she finds the many options for variations and combining techniques invigorating.

In the spring of 2025, Jacquie received a Canada Council for the Arts Professional Development for Artists Grant to study mokuhanga (Japanese water-based woodblock printmaking) at the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory (MI-Lab) in Echizen, Japan.

Early in 2026, she continued to learn about and practise this environmentally friendly printmaking process during a self-directed residency at Taller Radal in Villa los Coihues, Patagonia, Argentina. She looks forward to sharing with you her passion for print!

Studio 9

This year, Jacquie will be showing her work at the indoor and outdoor studio/gallery of metal sculptor Daniella Boerhof, along with fellow guest artists Linda Szoldatits and Meghan Monaghan.
