Discover nine artist studios, incredible food and independent shopping on the perfect September day trip from Toronto. The Uxbridge Studio Tour takes place September 19 & 20, with studios open Saturday 10 am–6 pm and Sunday 10 am–5 pm.
With nine Studio Tour locations within a short walk or drive of downtown Uxbridge, you can spend less time in the car and more time discovering art, meeting artists, shopping local and enjoying some of Uxbridge's best restaurants.
Local tip: Studio visits don't require reservations, but book lunch and dinner ahead of Tour weekend to avoid disappointment!

Studio 7 | First Editions*
Your first studio is literally next door, tucked in the back of Blue Heron Books. Take some time to browse one of Canada's finest independent bookstores before wandering into the gallery space at the back to discover First Editions*. This studio is unlike any of the others you will see today.
This space is dedicated to promoting emerging artists that we think our visitors should get to know. Take your time to chat and look around. It's a lovely way to start your tour.
Studio 9 | Daniella Boerhof
Leave the car where it is and take a short walk around the corner to the studio of metal sculptor Daniella Boerhof.
Known for her striking metal sculpture, Daniella's work is joined by an outstanding collection of guest artists including abstract painter Meghan Monaghan, printmaker Jacquie Sullivan, and ceramic artist Linda Szoldatits. With sculpture, painting, printmaking and ceramics all under one roof, you'll quickly discover why every Studio Tour stop offers something completely different.
Now it's time to return to your car.
Studio 8 | Sharon Nielsen
Just a short drive away, you'll find the elegent, heritage home and studio of Sharon Nielsen.
Explore Sharon Nielsen's expressive watercolours and acrylic paintings alongside fused glass by Marjolyn Pritchar, mixed media by JoAnne Caza, and handcrafted woodworking by James Warburton. Every room offers something new to discover.
Studio 10 | Fly Freeman
Time to explore the north side of our beautiful small town. Tucked into a quiet and sophisticated neighbourhood on the north end of our beautiful small town you will find the remarkable home, workshop, gallery of sculptor Fly Freeman.
Step inside Fly Freeman's remarkable workshop and gallery where contemporary architecture, sculpture and craftsmanship come together in one unforgettable space. Alongside Fly's sculptural work you'll discover ceramics by Ann Cummings, handcrafted silver and stone jewellery from Jeannine Rosenberg, and beautifully designed slow fashion by Alison Gauthier.
Studio 11 | Shannie van Buren
Finish your morning with the colourful work of Shannie van Buren.
Working in acrylic, watercolour and pencil, Shannie's paintings are full of warmth, personality and vibrant colour. As the sole artist exhibiting in the space, it's a wonderful opportunity to spend time chatting directly with the artist about her work and creative process.
Time for Lunch
One of the best parts of visiting downtown Uxbridge is the food.
If you're after something quick and delicious, stop into The Passionate Cook's Essentials for their homemade soup and fresh baguette lunch special, an incredible value that's a perfect grab-and-go option for a busy day of exploring.
Prefer to slow down? Grab a table at one of downtown's favourite independent restaurants including The Second Wedge Brewing Co., The Urban Pantry, or Fig Kitchen & Market. Each offers welcoming indoor and patio seating just minutes from the studios.
Studio 12 | Mike Wilkins
The afternoon begins with one of the tour's most industrial makers. Mike Wilkins transforms reclaimed wood, salvaged steel and discarded machinery parts into stunning furniture and sculptural works that celebrate craftsmanship and sustainability.
His guests Karin Silverstone, Tamara Williamson, and Sarah Porter bring mixed media, painting, books, glass and jewelry together to create an inspiring multi-disciplinary studio experience.
Studio 13 | Mark Ruchlewicz
Continue to the expressive acrylic paintings of Mark Ruchlewicz. A space filled with images that make you go 'hmmmmmm...'
His colourful work is joined by the beautiful stained glass of Sarah Farndon and handcrafted brass jewellery by Tania Caryi, making this another wonderfully varied stop along the tour.
Studio 14 | Mark Puigmarti
Just to the east of town, you'll experience one of humanity's oldest crafts at work.
Blacksmith Mark Puigmarti showcases forged steel alongside leatherwork by David Trotter, the richly textured paintings and fibre art of Lisa Allen, and the timeless weaving of Pat Neal. It's a celebration of traditional craftsmanship that feels completely contemporary.
Studio 15 | Sarah Holtby
Your final stop brings together four talented artists working across very different mediums.
Discover the mixed media work of Sarah Holtby, lino prints by Erin Le Page, oil paintings by Rebecca van Gennip, and paintings and pottery from Gerry Visco before wrapping up an unforgettable day of creativity.
Finish with Dinner
Complete your downtown adventure with dinner at one of Uxbridge's exceptional independent restaurants. Reserve a table at 9 By Tin, return to The Urban Pantry or Fig Kitchen, or make the short drive to Banjo Cider, where LUPO serves outstanding Italian-Canadian cuisine in a beautiful rural setting.
