Nancy R. Chalut
Painter Nancy Chalut's career in art began on a shop floor as an apprenticing cabinetmaker where sketching, drawing and working out fine detail was a basic requirement for a fine piece of furniture.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Nancy R. Chalut is a native of Hamilton, currently residing in Port Perry. She works in graphite pencil and oil paints, focusing on the human encroachment on our environment and its effects on humans, cities, and rural landscapes.
Nancy studied drawing in the style of Academic Realism under Pauline Bracshaw. She later received the Richard Haymen Scholarship, Art School of Peterborough, and furthered her studies in oil painting with Anne-Marie Kornachuk. Studies were enhanced in workshops with John Michael Angel, Dwayne Hardy, and Fernandes Freitas.
Nancy is an inducted member of the Ontario Society of Artists. Her work has been exhibited in the Lieutenant Governor's Suite, Queen's Park, Toronto, the Ontario Legislature, Queen's Park, Toronto, and in numerous exhibitions across Canada. She was recently published in “Art & Color 365” magazine in the Drawing, Wildlife/Animals and Still Life/Florals competitions.
Chalut is a graduate of the University of Guelph (History), Fanshawe College (Cabinetmaking), Certificate of Qualification (Industrial Woodworking), and Sheridan College (Interior Design. She served as a full-time professor at Mohawk College, Hamilton, teaching in the Architectural, Skills Development and Psychology Departments.


Studio 10
For 2024 Nancy will be showing her work at the indoor and outdoor studio/gallery/forge of Mark Puigmarti along with fellow guest artists Pat Neal and David Trotter.
