Mark Puigmarti

Blacksmith Mark Puigmarti forges raw metal into breathtaking sculptural works, blending ancient techniques with contemporary vision to create pieces that dance with both strength and delicacy.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mark Puigmarti (he/him), a self-taught artist blacksmith based in Port Perry, Ontario, has been honing his craft since 2002.

After a 25-year career as a mechanic in the trades, he made a bold move to pursue sculpture and blacksmithery.

Mark’s passion for his craft is evident in his unique approach, where he combines traditional forging techniques with contemporary design aesthetics to create a diverse range of sculptural works in various metals.

Mark, an enthusiastic member of OABA, an organization that promotes the intergenerational exchange of blacksmithing knowledge and skills, shares his passion and techniques with the community as a member and frequent demonstrator.

His work has been featured in public art installations across Ontario, including Brampton, Toronto, Pickering, Uxbridge, Ajax, and Richmond Hill.

A recently completed public work, “Gathering,” was installed in Toronto in August 2024. Mark’s creations have also been acquired by private collections in Canada, the US, and Britain.

This year, Mark will be welcoming guests to view his work, and that of his guest artists David Trotter, Pat Neal and Lisa Allen at his indoor and outdoor studio/gallery/forge.
