Mike Wilkins
With a keen eye for texture and history, Mike Wilkins crafts one-of-a-kind pieces that blend the rustic charm of salvaged materials with modern design, offering a fresh perspective on sustainable artistry.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mike Wilkins is a self-taught artist and designer based in Uxbridge, Ontario, with a distinctive talent for transforming salvaged materials into striking works of functional and sculptural art.
What began as a knack for making things work with whatever was on hand, without overcomplication, naturally evolved into a passion for welding, cutting, grinding, and reshaping discarded items into entirely new forms.
Mike’s creative process is sparked by discarded and overlooked objects: a piece of scrap metal, a forgotten tool, or machinery parts lying abandoned. These cast-offs ignite his imagination, gradually reforming themselves in his mind before becoming inventive furniture or compelling artworks that blend industrial grit with artistic elegance.
Since moving to Uxbridge in 2007, Mike has become an active part of the local arts community. The Uxbridge Studio Tour has been central to this connection, offering both inspiration and camaraderie.
A proud participant since 2016, Mike describes being part of the tour as both “an honour and a joy,” reflecting the value he places on community, creativity, and the shared celebration of art.

Mike will be showcasing his work in his charming home studio gallery, where art and environment blend seamlessly. This year, he’ll be joined by guest artists Tamara Williamson and Karin Silverstone, making this an inspiring stop you won’t want to miss.
