About The Tour

In 1985 a group of dedicated Uxbridge artists had a vision of starting a free self-guided art tour. The idea was simple; to allow the community to participate in the small but vibrant art community nestled in the beautiful surroundings of Uxbridge Ontario.

About the Tour

The Uxbridge Studio Tour is a juried art studio tour featuring a distinguished & award winning lineup of artists who call this beautiful region home. The jurying process means that all artists applying to be on the tour are judged by a dedicated artist committee judged on a range of criteria ranging from creativity, awards, and skill, along with studio access. Only artists exceeding the standards of the Uxbridge Studio Tour acceptance guidelines are accepted to take part as studio artists.

2023 marks the 38th  year of this fabulous weekend long event and will feature over 50 artists showcasing their work either virtually or at their unique studio locations. Each year our studio artists host multiple guest artists from across Canada.

What makes the Uxbridge Studio Tour unique is our dedication to giving visitors an exciting peek ‘behind the curtain’ to where art is created. This is not a gallery tour! This is a tour of remarkable and beautiful creative spaces around our region. With studios surrounded by forests, farmland, and beautiful historic towns visitors get a fascinating tour of spaces normally hidden behind closed doors.

Each year hundreds of dedicated art enthusiasts make their way to each of our studios. With so many different studio locations on our tour it’s just not possible to see them all in one weekend. We want to give visitors a great day or weekend out exploring the Uxbridge area.

Our Artists

Our full 2023 lineup includes sculptors, painters, ceramic artists, gold & silversmiths, mixed-media, textile and wood artists. Some artists adapt traditional or historical styles, some are experimental, some are abstract. In addition to the knowledge and many skills demanded by their various materials, these artists employ fantasy, humour, memory and dreams in the creation of their objects. In short, this group covers a large swath of 21st Century artistic visual expression.

Many are members of our provincial and national art societies such as the Ontario Society of Artists, the Royal Canadian Academy, the Toronto Watercolour Society and the Sculpture Society of Canada to name a few.

Our dedication to art and our love of this region are why we open our doors and invite you into our studios year after year. We look forward to meeting you!
