ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jay Dart is a drawist, author and designer who lives and draws with his family in Brooklin, Ontario.
Dart expands his drawing-based practice to include mixed-media, bookworks, installations, and animations in order to achieve a more immersive experience with the worlds that he builds in his whimsical, narrative-based images.
Dart’s work has been shown in galleries and art fairs across North America and Europe including recent solo exhibitions in Vancouver, Regina, Montreal as well as local shows at the Art Gallery of Northumberland and Second Wedge Brewery.
He is the recipient of multiple grants and honours including from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, and a National Magazine Award for editorial illustration.
Dart’s work has been featured on CBC Radio and TV including a profile on The Exhibitionists. He is a graduate of the University of Guelph’s Fine Art programme.
Dart also teaches at Seneca College, Durham College, and Haliburton School of Art & Design.

For 2024 Jay will be showing his work at the enchanting woodland studio/gallery of printmaker and sculptor Rashmi Baird along with fellow guest artist Shawn Hermans.
