I am in constant amazement at the beautiful, complex and intricate ‘forms’ that surround me. For me, motivation is the desire to experience and study the environment and to create something as a result.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
As a self-taught artist Sarah Holtby, educated in the discipline of Science, is often asked how she balances between the two seemingly conflicting realms of interests. "The more I learn, the more I discover the difficulty arises only in trying to separate the two subjects; they are so closely related that I have a difficult time discerning between them". In her scientific studies, she learned that ‘form’ goes hand-in-hand with ‘function’, an overlying theme in biology. Sarah is artistically fascinated with ‘the form’, and to how to study it visually, and also scientifically fascinated by how and why ‘the form’ functions.
Sarah is in constant amazement at the beautiful, complex and intricate ‘forms’ that surround us. For Sarah, the motivation is the same for both disciplines, the desire to experience and study the environment and to create something as a result.
