Producing hand made felt using traditional wet felting techniques is a delightful experience. Each time I add soap and water to those natural fibres and then agitate them to my heart’s content something magical happens.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
The two experiences of teaching tapestry frame loom weaving and learning to spin a wide variety of natural fibres led Libbie to explore the possibilities of creating hand made fabric with only the most basic of tools.
Using natural fibres, bubble wrap, soap, water and a pool noodle, she easily transforms loose fibres into warm, soft, lightweight and wearable works of art.
Libbie is fascinated by the felting process as it unfolds into two- or three-dimensional designs that reveal lovely colour, texture and form.
