ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jeremy Hare's journey in art began in the classroom, where he drew cartoons instead of writing down notes. For all of school, he pursued sketching, but there was always something lacking in that art style for Him. "I could draw all sorts of characters and places, but they would always be 2D, and trapped on a piece of paper".
From a combination of his love for art, history, and whittling around the campfire while in the great outdoors, he has moved onto wood carving. "Being able to carve a spoon in a style that’s been used for hundreds of years, and to create something that is not only beautiful, but can be handled and used as a tool for years to come, is such a reward and worth the time and effort in its creation".
Growing up in Goodwood, it was only natural that Jeremy would eventually turn to wood carving! Jeremy feels that his best work has been made from wood found in his own backyard.
For years Jeremy has assisted his Omi, Christl Niemuller, in setting up for the Studio Tour. Now, after carving for two years, he's ready to make the next leap in his artistic journey and put his work on display in public for the first time.
Jeremy hopes to come away from this experience with a new appreciation for his work and the drive to continue to improve upon it for years to come!
