ABOUT THE ARTIST
Since a young girl, Hanneke Koonstra has always had an affinity for art. As an elementary school teacher she infused aspects of art into my programming.
After taking leave from teaching Hanneke pursued her art full time taking many workshops and joining several art groups.
Hanneke works mainly in watercolours liking their unpredictability but also paints in oils and acrylic.
She is drawn to bright, deep colours and contrasts between light and shadows. "I get most of my inspiration from the Uxbridge area and my gardens on our rural property but I am also inspired from the images of my trips to Europe, throughout Canada and the USA".
Hanneke also enjoys experimenting with colour and design when using fluid acrylics and multi-media to create bright abstracts.
Hanneke's work has been in many juried shows and has won several awards.
