Lynda Cunningham OSA – Painter
Oil paintings portraying the simple beauty of rural life.
Craig Telfer – Woodwork
I took my first art course at University as a curiosity and to earn an extra credit. I was hooked. After graduating, I began painting and when we acquired our first home I was able to indulge my other passion working with wood. We built a small log cabin and a cordwood shed. We were able to fell and have milled a number of cedar and pine trees that provided me with the raw material for simple cabinets and furniture.
I was able to further my art education studying art history and painting at Fleming College in Lindsay and studying figure drawing with Anne Cossar in Peterborough. My work has been accepted at juried shows in Lindsay and at the McLaughlin in Oshawa. I was a founding member of the Village Gallery, an Artist Co-op in Cannington.
At retirement, my wife Bonita and I moved to our new home and I was fortunate to have a woodlot with Maple and Yellow Birch trees. This yielded some beautiful figurative wood including spalted maple and it is this material that informs my work today. From bowls and shaped plates to tables and chairs, I try to incorporate the imagery of live edges and tortured grain.
